The landmark of Lausanne is the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Every year the building receives about half a million visitors. The catholic church soars majestically into the sky from the heart of the city and can be seen from miles around. Visit the largest church in Switzerland and admire the impressive stained glass windows. The rose window consists of 105 medallions and is among the most important in Europe. For a fantastic view over the city and Lake Geneva a climb up the south west tower is a must. One of the highlights of the Cathedral is the night watchman who calls out the hours every night between 10pm and 2am. Concerts are held regularly in the church, and in particular the huge organ with over 7000 pipes is worth hearing.
