Hotel Conti AG (Entreprise , Untermüli 9, 6300 Zug (CHE-290.982.721), is the operator of the WiFi captive portal and is therefore responsible for the collection, processing, and use of your personal data and for ensuring that this data processing complies with applicable data protection legislation.

Your trust is important to us, which is why we take data protection seriously and ensure appropriate security. We naturally comply with the legal requirements of the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), the Ordinance to the Federal Act on Data Protection (ODP), as well as the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other provisions of Swiss and European data protection law.

Please note that the following information is reviewed and amended from time to time. We therefore recommend that you regularly review this data protection declaration. Other companies are also responsible for data protection for some of the processing operations detailed below, or are jointly responsible with us, so the information provided by these providers is also relevant in such cases.

1. When registering on the Wi-Fi captive portal

Our servers temporarily log all access to the captive portal in a log file. The following technical data is then collected without any intervention on your part and stored by us at the hosting provider Ruckus Networks, 94089 US, in data centers located in Europe, including Frankfurt, Germany, until its automated deletion after between 30 and 180 days, depending on operational and security requirements:

  • IP address of the calling computer
  • MAC address
  • Date and time of access (login and logout)
  • Operating system
  • Applications used
  • Mobile phone number
  • Email address
  • Your name
  • Network name
  • Network type
  • Captive portal option
  • Telemetry

This data is collected and processed for the purpose of complying with the Federal Act of March 18, 2016, on the Surveillance of Correspondence by Post and Telecommunications (LSCPT; SR 780.1), which came into force on March 1, 2018.

To enable the identification of individuals, Art. 21, para. 1, lit. d, LSCPT2 requires telecommunications service providers (TSPs) to provide the SCPT Service with other data, determined by the Federal Council, concerning telecommunications services. This obligation is specified in Art.

19, para. 2, OSCPT for public WLAN access points operated for professional purposes. Art. 19, para. 2, OSCPT "2 TSPs shall ensure that all end users of public WLAN access points operated for professional purposes are identified by appropriate means."

2. Purpose of storage

This data is stored for security purposes and may be forwarded to the competent authorities in the event of suspected violations of the law or the terms of use of the service.

3. Use of our forms

You can use one of our contact forms to contact us. To do this, we need your contact information, such as name, telephone number, address or email address, your question, and possibly other information that you provide. The date the request was received is also documented. Mandatory information is marked with an asterisk (*) in the contact forms. We only use this data to provide the best possible personalized response to your contact request.

If you would like to receive information, particularly about the Burkhalter Group's services, following the processing of this data, we will be happy to provide it to you upon request. This consent can be revoked at any time.

4. Contacting us by email

You have the option to contact us by email. We will necessarily store your email address for this purpose. We use your email address and other data you voluntarily provide (e.g., first name and last name) to respond to your contact request as accurately as possible and in a personalized manner. The processing of this data is therefore necessary to carry out (pre-)contractual measures within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR and is in our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

5. Transfer of data to third parties

7. Retention Period

According to legal obligations, public Wi-Fi service providers must retain user connection data, such as login credentials, assigned IP addresses, connection and disconnection dates and times, as well as information about the devices used, for a period of six months.

8. Your Rights as a User

As a user of a public Wi-Fi network in Switzerland, you have the right to request information about the personal data stored about you, to request its rectification or deletion, and to object to its processing under certain circumstances. These rights are guaranteed by the DPA.

9. Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data stored with us against manipulation, total or partial loss, or unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.

You should always treat your access data confidentially and close the browser window when you have finished communicating with us, especially when using the computer together with others.

We also take internal data protection very seriously. Our employees and the service companies we commission are committed to respecting confidentiality and data protection regulations.

10. Right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority
